we managed to strip plank the boat in basically 3 days! which is very nice and fast.
then matt resigned...
now everything is totally different. i really liked matts teaching style because it meant that the students who wanted to learn learned from a higher standard of work (higher quality) but the students who didnt care didnt learn quite as much.
now that chris is our lecturer hes brought the quality and efficiency WAY down!!! so the better students are not learning nearly as much but the worse students are possibly learning a bit more. they are kind of being forced to do more work. but another down side is we are being so inefficient that we wont beable to make the rudder, tiller, keel etc...
matts teaching style was to show us the right way to do things and then to slowly get us to do them (the most efficient and highest quality way). but chris is mostly just letting us do it our own way (very inefficient) and then letting us learn from our mistakes, this is really annoying to me because i dont get to learn the more efficient way to do stuff. another thing it does for everyone (which im very annoyed about) is lower all of our goals. infact chris himself said we wouldnt beable to finish the boat! with matt we were doing everything so efficiently that we would have run out of things to do for the last few weeks.
well i think ive said more then enough about how annoyed i am...
so on friday we started sanding the interior hull and we didnt even get that finished because we spent half the day planing what we were going to do and what needs to be done over the next few weeks. this is the one up side to having chris as our lecturer, we are learning how to plan a bit.
