ok so yesterday after lunch we went down to the FRP bay and did a little work with gelcoats and polyester.
first we cleaned off the persplex in preperation for laminating,
then we waxed it all up (apparently we are supposed to wax 6-8 times on a propper mould)
then we mixed up some gelcoat and applied it to two of the persplex sheets. (2% MEKP)
after that we mixed up some polyester (1.5% MEKP, cause we want it to go off slower).
we brushed this onto the third polyester sheet and layed down 3 layers of chopstrand mat, then 1 core mat, and then another 3 choppy.
we were going to put some polyester and choppy on the gelcoat but it hadnt cured enough by 3:45 so we just left it for another time.
